Sri Lanka’s gem legacy to shine at FACETS 2025

The 31st edition of FACETS Sri Lanka, the nation’s premier international gem and jewelry exhibition, is scheduled for January 4–6, 2025, at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo. Organized by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA), FACETS Sri Lanka remains a cornerstone event in the country’s gem and jewelry industry, showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich legacy as a global leader in gemstone production and artistry.

Attracting an international audience of traders, exporters, manufacturers, lapidarists, and collectors, FACETS Sri Lanka is a hub for industry professionals from across the globe. With over 30 years of history, this exhibition reinforces Sri Lanka’s standing as one of the world’s oldest and most respected sources of colored gemstones, especially sapphires.

Sri Lanka’s diverse array of precious stones and the fine craftsmanship of local artisans are central to FACETS. Over time, Sri Lankan jewelers have harmonized contemporary trends with cultural craftsmanship, creating distinctive pieces that appeal to local and global markets alike.

The 2025 edition of FACETS will bring ample networking and business prospects. Highlights include ‘Sapphire Night,’ a glamorous evening celebrating the sapphire industry, and the ‘Power Breakfast,’ an empowering event for women leaders in the gem sector. These sessions will enable industry stakeholders to network, share insights, and explore collaborations.

Beyond networking, the event offers unique experiences such as the ‘Mine Tour,’ allowing international attendees to witness Sri Lanka’s gemstone mining practices firsthand, and a visit to Port City Colombo. High-profile guests can also participate in exclusive activities like the VIP Golf Tournament.

Since its inception in 1991, FACETS Sri Lanka has significantly uplifted the national gem and jewelry sector, contributing to Sri Lanka’s GDP and establishing the country as a premier destination for precious stones. The 2025 event aims to build on this legacy, encouraging local industry growth and drawing foreign investment. With registrations now open, the SLGJA is optimistic that FACETS Sri Lanka 2025 will remain a key event for global gem and jewelry professionals.
