CASIO intensifies its fight against counterfeit products in Sri Lanka by launching operations to enforce its line of calculator products.
Casio Computer Co. Ltd has intensified its efforts to protect Sri Lankan consumers by launching a campaign against counterfeit Casio calculators, following its earlier success against fake watches in Sri Lanka. In collaboration with local authorities, Casio recently conducted raids in Colombo, resulting in the seizure of counterfeit calculators. This initiative aims to ensure product authenticity, protect students and consumers, and maintain the brand’s trust and integrity in the market.

Casio Computer Co. Ltd, headquartered in Japan, recently launched a new initiative to enhance its operations for the safety of Sri Lankan consumers, particularly against counterfeit calculators. This initiative follows Casio's earlier successful campaign against fake watches in Sri Lanka. As part of this latest effort, the company has taken significant steps to protect its brand by enforcing intellectual property (IP) rights and combating the sale of counterfeit Casio calculators in the market.
In collaboration with a local law firm and the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD), Casio carried out a raid on a prominent wholesale trading business and a stationery importer in Colombo. As a result, a large stock of counterfeit calculators mimicking Casio's original designs was seized by authorities.
This crackdown underscores Casio's commitment to consumer protection in Sri Lanka, as counterfeit products pose a serious risk not only to the brand's reputation but also to students who rely on accurate and reliable calculators for their studies. These fake products can lead to erroneous outcomes, impacting students' futures, while also posing a threat to commercial trade integrity. Recognizing the risk of diminished consumer trust, Casio emphasizes the need for vigilance to preserve the loyalty it has built with customers over the years. Through this initiative, Casio aims to maintain quality assurance in the marketplace and ensure the authenticity of its products.
Gurmeet Singh, Casio India's Head of Legal, expressed his thoughts on the matter: "As a global leader, we are dedicated to protecting our brand integrity and ensuring that students using calculators are not put at risk. We believe this operation will help improve the education standards of students in Sri Lanka and encourage them to buy genuine Casio calculators. Our unwavering commitment to safeguarding Casio’s brand through this operation reassures consumers of the quality and authenticity of every Casio product they purchase. We continue to work closely with local government bodies in Sri Lanka to ensure that genuine Casio products are accessible, meeting consumer needs consistently.”
Casio encourages consumers to purchase authentic products from authorized dealers to avoid counterfeits. Additionally, the company remains committed to working alongside local authorities to safeguard its brand reputation and ensure the safety of consumers when purchasing its products.
